Mad White Men

February 17, 2012

The white men running the GOP (and we all know it’s white men running the joint) have officially gone around the bend on the contraception issue.

Ranking committee member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) had asked Issa to include a female witness at the hearing, but the Chairman refused, arguing that “As the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the Administration’s actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience, he believes that Ms. Fluke is not an appropriate witness.”

And the forced-birth extremists at the state level are even worse. They’ve passed a law in Virginia that mandates the sexual assault of any woman seeking a constitutionally protected abortion.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
“These Republicans, you know, talk all the time about limited government and the intrusiveness of the government, it’s just sheer hypocrisy that now they’re passing legislation that would have government, literally, physically intrude upon a woman’s body without her consent.”

It’s becoming very clear to women across the political spectrum that the real motive for all of the forced-birth, anti-contraception sentiment in the GOP is not about protecting babies, or women, or religious freedom, it’s about slut shaming and paternal control.

Evidently the GOP doesn’t realize that women actually vote in this country. Either that, or they intend to repeal women’s suffrage the second they get the chance. You know, to protect those poor dumb broads from themselves, and for “liberty” or whatever.

They really want to repeal the twentieth century. Bad.
