Liar Liar

June 28, 2011

Filthy Rich Mitch was in top form on Sunday as he vomited his smarmy lies all over ABC’s Christiane Amanpour without so much as a half-hearted complaint about the smell.  Way to take it like a champ Christiane.

What Filthy Rich Mitch is trying to pass off as gospel here is that there was virtually no deficit spending or national debt before January 2009, and every economic ill we face is a direct result of over-spending by Democrats.  No mention of Regan’s deficits, nor George H. W. Bush’s, and of course no mention at all of “he-who-should-not-be-named”, George W. Bush.  Amanpour allows him to ramble on about our soon-to-be-downgraded credit rating (bullshit), and how we must dismantle all of our entitlements in order to “save them”, and of course the ever popular “35% increase in spending” nonsense.  What a crock.  When you pay for two wars on the credit card for over half a decade without looking at the statements, it tends to throw your budget numbers off when you finally punch them into Quickbooks, asshole.

The one thing he was at least semi-honest about was the fact that Republicans will simply not allow their wealthy corporate masters to be taxed a dime more than they are now, and that’s why the only budget “fixes” they’re willing to consider are deep cuts to social programs.  In other words, they aren’t just negotiating in bad faith, they’re not really negotiating at all.  Democrats are once again only negotiating with themselves.

Sorry for the month-long hiatus.  Twelve-hour days of field work without internet access really eat in to the blogging time.  Posting will be spotty over the next couple months, but I’ll try to get something up a couple of times a week if I can.  Thanks for dropping in!

It remains a puzzle why the Republicans can command a single vote from ordinary people who are not independently wealthy or CEO’s of huge corporations. America is pretty literate as countries go, and most Americans can read.
