The Haircut Smells Free Money

April 13, 2011

And he’s looking to cash in on those sweet, sweet birther bucks.

Birther insanity = FREE MONEY!!

Washington (CNN) – Donald Trump is now tied with Mike Huckabee for first place when Republicans are asked who they support for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, according to a new national poll.

One contributing factor could be his numerous appearances in the national media. Trump’s questioning of whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. has put Trump smack in the media spotlight the past two months.

“If Trump is rising in the polls because of the amount of air time he has gotten, it would be difficult to tell whether his gains are due to what he is saying or simply due to his increased visibility. In a field of more than a dozen potential candidates, all air time is good air time,” says Holland. “Most presidential seasons get to a point when the voters are looking for a fresh face. That’s what gave us Fred Thompson in 2008 and Wesley Clark in 2004, to name just two examples. If the Republican rank and file has already hit that phase, Trump would be the obvious beneficiary.”

It seems that The Haircut’s recent swan-dive into the birther cesspool is paying off.  He’s definitely gonna ride this gravy-train, because you can’t get that many fools and that much money in the same place without attracting some pretty big parasites like him.  It’s only natural.

Seriously, do Americans not care anything for how the country looks any more? If things have actually reached the point that Donald Trump is considered – even by a few – as presidential material, then it might be too late to escape the powerful pull of the toilet flushing.

Can you imagine Donald Trump representing the country internationally? When he would view every policy conference as an episode of “The Apprentice”, with himself as the arrogant twit who gets to say, “You’re fired” to the speaker? Everything for the glory of The Donald.

I keep thinking the Republicans are trying to lose, with the calibre of candidates jostling for position. But the more I think it can’t get any sillier, the sillier it gets. It’s now reached the level that even winning against the Republican nominee would be an embarrassment, because being in the same contest is embarrassing.

Welcome to our national nightmare Mark.

There were people saying the same thing about a certain George W. Bush in 2000. Never underestimate the self-destructive stupidity of a sizable portion of American voters. With a suppressed turnout and a pack of lawyers, it could easily happen again.

There’s apparently already video (MSN) in which Trump claims credit for forcing Obama to release his long-form birth certificate. Excellent. Very much in the mold of other shamelessly crazy Republicans.
