Suspicion Est Satis Causa Pro Damnatio

January 5, 2011

Suspicion is sufficient cause for condemnation.

How do you know that you are not a witch?

Just as the Catholic church used the Inquisition to destroy free thinkers and political foes as a means of enforcing the status quo,  America’s corporate overlords will protect their wealth and power by publicly destroying all perceived threats under the watchful eye of their own Grand Inquisitor.

Rep. Darrell Issa

The incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee has stated his intention to revert his committee back to the golden age of Clinton and begin a torrent of witch-hunts aimed at every conspiracy-theory-and-dog-whistle-laden “scandal” Fox Nooze can gin up.  ACORN, Black Panthers, Wikileaks, and Fannie Mae are all on the list, as well as “job-killing regulations” and why the FCIC didn’t blame the whole 2008 crash on poor black people.

Happy days are here again!

Of course the real goal of all this outrage and condemnation is not to actually rein in malfeasance, reduce government waste, or even to validate conservative ideology.  It’s about creating a narrative of scandal to delegitimize President Obama’s administration while providing a smoke screen for the Robber Barons to continue emptying the treasury.  All corrupt and evil power structures must maintain their facade of righteousness by finding corruption and evil in their enemies, especially if it’s not there.  This will be Grand Inquisitor Issa’s job, and he will do it gladly.
