The Chosen of Rand, Highpriest of Galt, and Grand Seer of The Almighty Tax Cut

January 4, 2011

Rep. Paul Ryan

Do not be fooled by his golden crown and majestic demeanor,

Paul Ryan Fiscal Highpriest

We must sacrifice more virgins!!

Paul Ryan is a damned fraud.

He is little more than an overrated Haruspex, gazing at entrails and demanding virginal sacrifice to appease his Randian Gods.  In a sane world he would be laughed off the national stage for his ignorance and hypocrisy, but our world has gone completely insane, and he is to be handed the power to unilaterally set budget limits that are not subject to a vote by the house.  Once again proving that Republicans hate democracy.  They always will.

The proposed rule would allow the Budget Committee chairman to set spending ceilings for 2011 without a vote by the full House. By approving the rules package, the House would give authority to the new Budget panel chairman to set budget ceilings at a later time and his decision would not be subject to an up-or-down vote on the floor.

In practice, this would give power to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the incoming chairman of the panel, to impose deep spending cuts since spending bills cannot exceed the budget ceiling for the 2011 fiscal year.

Just so we’re clear, any budget ceiling imposed by Highpriest Ryan shouldn’t mean shit to the Senate, as they haven’t voted for any spending ceilings either, but you never know when those clowns will come down with the “bipartiswine flu” and just let Republicans do what they want.  We’ll see I guess.

As for the deep and abiding concern for all things deficit that Republicans profess is their Only Guiding Principal, well that too is absolute bullshit.

  • The new rules announced December 22 would replace pay-as-you-go with a much weaker, one-sided “cut-as-you-go” rule, under which increases in mandatory spending would still have to be paid for but tax cutswould not.In addition, increases in mandatory spending could be offset only by reductions in other mandatory spending, not by any measure to raise revenues such as by closing unproductive special-interest tax loopholes. For example, the House would be barred from paying for continuation of a provision enacted in 2009 (and extended in the just-enacted tax compromise) that enables many minimum-wage families to receive a full, rather than a partial, Child Tax Credit by closing wasteful tax breaks for multinational corporations that shelter profits overseas. Use of such an offset would violate the new House rules because the provision expanding the Child Tax Credit for working-poor families counts as spending and hence could not be paid for by closing a tax loophole. Yet the same new rules would enable the House to expand tax loopholes for multinational corporations and wealthy investors without paying for those tax breaks at all, because any tax cut, no matter how costly or ill-advised, could now be deficit financed.
  • The new rules wouldstand the reconciliation process on its head , by allowing the House to use reconciliation to push through bills that greatly increase deficits as long as the deficit increases result from tax cuts, while barring the use of reconciliation in the House for legislation that reduces the deficit if that legislation contains a net increase in spending (no matter how small) that is more than offset by revenue-raising provisions.

Let me make this as clear as I can.

The Republican party has morphed into a degenerate cult of cruel, conscienceless, Rand worshiping dopes.  They detest democracy and will kill any policy that helps the poor and working classes.  They don’t give a fuck about this country or its people, and they sure as shit don’t care about actually governing.  This is what the American people voted for.  They will bow, chant and cheer as, one by one, our social programs are brought to the chopping block and publicly beheaded in sacrifice to their false idols of Tax Cuts and Austerity.  I weep for our future.

Update:

I finally found a video of Oliver Platt in his role as High Priest in the movie Year One that pretty much sums up Paul Ryan.  A depraved fraud who exists only to empower the other corrupt frauds who surround him.

So say we, so say we all. It’s funny, the way the Republicans wouldn’t entertain the notion of any spending – at all – that wasn’t paid for….until the talk turned to tax cuts.

In fact, the GOP seems to believe that tax cuts are the sop they throw to the middle class and below that will keep them voting GOP, because they’re looking out for the common man – not like those dirty Democrats, who are always wanting to raise taxes and take away people’s guns. They gamble nobody of consequence will notice that most of the money goes to the already-wealthy, who will just jet off somewhere else with the swag if the country comes down around the electorate’s ears. So far, it’s looking like they gambled smart.
