Wyoming’s Shame

November 18, 2010

John Barrasso is a tool. I have a unique relationship with John; I get to vote against that asshole every time he’s up for election. Why this man is allowed on television, except for sheer spectacle, is beyond me. When speaking about his opposition to the new START treaty on MSNBC, he referred to Russia as the”Soviet Union”… twice. Yes he is a sitting U.S. Senator, and yes he has actually been to Russia.

Making a damn fool of yourself on television is fine, in fact many people make a huge amount of money doing just that, but as the representative voice for hundreds of thousands of people in government, you’d think he’d be a bit more careful in his choice of talking points. This doesn’t just apply to Barrasso, there are loads of these dip-shits in D.C., but the people of Wyoming deserve better than this bumbling jackass as one of our few representatives in Congress. I am embarrassed to have this irresponsible hack reflecting so poorly on me and everyone else from this great state.

(More on the START treaty coming soon)

Regardless the bricklike stupidity of Republicans, the weakness of Democrats allows travesties like….well, like the probability that the United States will not ratify START. Yes, it looks like Republicans will be successful in derailing it, and dinks like the Democrats who want to keep their job more than they want to do what’s right will facilitate that block, cowering and trying to placate them by making a deal. They’re only high-minded when they’re campaigning, while at least the Republicans are beetle-browed mouth breathers on and off the campaign trail. It’s “what you see is what you get”, as opposed to “I bought a GI Joe doll, and while I was sleeping it turned into a Barbie”, like you get with Democrats.

It’s perfectly true that they should name a wing at Bellevue for John Boehner, but they have party discipline. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t coincide with what’s good for the country, but I guess you can’t have everything. When he dies, maybe they’ll donate his balls to Harry Reid. If he’s still alive.

I’ll tell you this for nothing – it’ll be one hell of a long time before Russia trusts America again, like maybe when Vladimir Putin’s great-grandson is old enough to run for President, if START falls apart. Forget any more cooperation on Iran, and kiss their logistic support for Afghanistan goodbye.

This is a good blog, I like it. Impressive. And I’m a Hart Williams fan, too.

Thanks for the great comment. I don’t get many, and certainly none so flattering. Thank you again.

It really is depressing to see the depths that Republicans are willing to go to secure their own power. Their completely nihilistic attitude toward any and every policy issue put forward by Democrats has already damaged this country beyond belief, and it’s only going to get worse. The START treaty is an incredibly important step in the fight against international nuclear proliferation and to stand against it simply to further their own political goals is not just insanely irresponsible, it boarders on treason.

I spent a couple hours on your blog today and I have to say, wow. I didn’t realize how many great Russian blogs are out there. I have a fair working knowledge of Russia and it’s recent history, but it’s nice to find in-depth resources. Great work. You’ll definitely be on the blogroll here, and thanks so much again for the compliment.
