American Gigolo
It was brought to my attention last week that I had left out The Gregory in my criticism of the guest lists for the Sunday shows. So to rectify that oversight, I feel obligated to give this pathetic creature his very own critique.
So here’s to not leaving out The Gregory…
David Gregory is one of the leading media personalities of The Village, and a shameless whore to monied elites. He is the earthly embodiment of all that is dysfunctional and corrupt in our corporate media. Meet the Press is nothing more than a corporate funded megaphone for the rich and powerful to persuade the masses to help them maintain their money and power.
His fawning over every old-rich-white-guy he invites on would be hilarious if it wasn’t so goddamn sad. Being led around by the nose like a poodle waiting for a treat is no way for a journalist to act, which is why David Gregory will never be a journalist.
Real reporting is hard. You have to run down sources and dig through tons of bullshit to reveal the truth. You have to risk angering powerful people because they don’t want their secrets and lies exposed. It can be dangerous to your career and sometimes your life, but it’s a necessary function of the fourth estate in a functioning democracy. That’s why freedom of the press is enshrined in the Constitution.
David Gregory, like so many of his fellow Villagers, is enthralled by those with power. He want’s to be one of them, or at least be accepted by them. The notion of loosing access to someone with money and power by exposing their lies is simply unthinkable to him. The powerful can only be worshiped and adored, lest they think he isn’t being “fair” and cast him out from their magnificent presence.
So The Gregory will keep on whoring, because the decaying stench of his long dead credibility is nothing compared to the pain of loosing his honored place as a testicle cozy for his masters… and he can’t get his fix any other way.
